It’s been a while since we released any new World Wonders in RoC. By “a while”, I mean over two years. If memory serves, we released Valhalla and the Dragonship Ellida on August 2nd, 2023.

Not long after, we announced changes to how we will develop the game going forward, and change we did. We’ve focused on different things. We added Player Encounters, overview screens, and new levels for various buildings. We also created lots of new event rewards and even two new eras. One of those eras introduced a whole fresh approach to new cultures. But we did not introduce any new Wonders. They fell as a necessary victim to our changes in focus.

New Wonders are coming

With great joy, we can confidently say this Wonder hiatus will not reach three years.
Early this week, we put two new Wonders on Beta. Those who frequent our Discord server already knew, but for some, this is fresh info: we have chosen to include Petra and the City of Brass in the game.

Petra is a real place in contemporary Jordan you can visit and admire. One member of our development team has visited and highly recommends it! In contrast, the City of Brass is a legendary location from “One Thousand and One Nights”.

What do they do?

Both are Allied Culture Wonders tied to the culture of Arabia. This means they have permanent locations in the Allied Culture’s city. You can enable and disable them at will. The impressive structure of the City of Brass will be glued to the very edge of the buildable area. Petra, represented by an in-game counterpart of the Al-Khazneh tomb, will beautify a nearby rock formation.

When it comes to their pure in-game mechanics value, we have described them in the Beta section of our Discord server (yes, this is an invitation!). Broadly speaking, they support the Arabian city and also provide some bonuses for the rest of the game. Oh, and they also replace the Terracotta Army and Abu Simbel in the Stories and Myths collection. Of course, those Wonders stay in the game in their “native” collections.

The Beta testing!

Our awesome Beta testers have already given us very useful feedback. Because of this, we may see adjustments before the live release. Clearly, there is some desire for changes, but as always, we cannot make promises.

In any case, if you are interested in trying them out but don’t currently play on Beta, you can always change that! Visit https://zz-play.riseofcultures.com/ from your desktop device and register your test account. Beta is typically one version ahead of our live AM and EU regions. It also gets all events, features, and content way ahead of time. Why not give it a shot?

The Wondrous future

What does the future hold when it comes to Wonders?
We don’t dare to say, other than that there will be more Wonders.

There are a ton of things we could do with them. Something that is very much on our minds is coming up with new and creative ideas for Wonder bonuses. This is also where we would love to hear your thoughts. Some proposals have already been shared on Discord. We are actively looking for more right now. If you have been keeping some cool ideas in your drawer, this is the best time to share them!

Thanks for reading and see you in the game, in Discord, or the Facebook Group!
