You have likely seen the major announcement regarding our upcoming journey into the sands. On March 11th, Heroes of History changes forever with the arrival of a massive, interconnected narrative arc. With Anubis’ Awakening we are stepping away from isolated, standalone events to bring you something much more ambitious.
But why this shift, and why now? We want to pull back the curtain and share the philosophy behind designing the Anubis’ Awakening experience.
At its core, we wanted to evolve how you interact with history. We are shifting to a unified, evolving journey over the course of multiple weeks, replacing isolated elements with an interconnected system of activities, with the addition of unique gameplay features that deliver fresh challenges and unexpected surprises. In this way, gameplay and storytelling weave together tightly, creating a cohesive 8-week journey where every season, event, and reward contributes to a single, epic storyline.
Why the Sands of Egypt?
Choosing the setting for our narrative was crucial. Ancient Egypt is the perfect fit. It offers a deep historical background that aligns seamlessly with our game’s vision. We can explore mystical, almost magical narratives without breaking historical immersion. Furthermore, existing beloved heroes like Hatshepsut or the Egypt Allied Culture gave us a fantastic foundation to build upon.
The Heart of the Anubis’ Awakening Experience
Ultimately, this new approach is defined by its stakes. We aren’t just visiting Egypt; we are saving it.
Anubis has waited in the shadows for ages. Now, with the young, underestimated Pharaoh Tutankhamun on the throne, the jackal god seizes his chance to finally breach the mortal world. You must step with Cleopatra through Einstein’s portal directly into the Valley of the Kings.
